7 years of bad luck

I broke our standing mirror!!    It all happened in slow motion - I swore I heard humming in my ears as the darn thing went down.  *sigh*  Oh well, I'm just relieved it didn't happen to Reggie, but still!  I don't want seven whole years of misfortune!  Let's hope this is one superstition that is false.

Actually, we've been having bad luck from the moment the new year hit.  I'm sure everyone suffers their share of woes and worries, but this whole year seemed to be full of challenges for us!  Not a month went by that some stroke of bad luck didn't fall on us.  I know, I know ... things could be worse.  I do try to keep reminding myself that.

Well, here's something lucky (although I have a feeling it really isn't a blessing): I got approved for a loan!  YES!!    <--- so cute, huh?  But back to my good news, yes!!  What with Xmas literally flashing us in the face and that darn laundry machine conking out on us - which couldn't have occurred at a more inopportune moment!!!  I've a sneaky suspicion that it might have had something to do with our new neighbors.  I caught them using the other tenant's laundry machine.  It's understood in our complex that you need to supply your own laundry machine in order to make use of one.  Maybe they used ours and that's why it broke.  It's not that I'm stingy - I don't mind, although I question the hygiene of it.  I'd just hate to think that the machine broke because of them.  It's okay.  Reg and I decided to put the new unit inside the house.    We're crossing our fingers for a good deal on one of those washer/drier stack units.

You're probably wondering why I had to get a loan for just the laundry machine.  Well, that's not the only financial worry we have.  I still have yet to settle the medical bill from October.  Plus, I'd LOVE to close my  credit card once and for all!  PLUS, it'd be a way for me to send a little extra money to my folks for Xmas (yikes, I hope they don't read this before the fact!!!).  And last of all, I do have a selfish motive: I WANT A NEW COMPUTER!!!  LOL!!  Sure, this laptop was top-of-the-line in 2000 but if you know computers, you'll agree it is way past obsolete!!.  Yep, we want a new comp.  I don't want to deal with clicking on a program and waiting full minutes before the application finally opens up.  I want to be able to make neat reproducibles for my children - I usually get discouraged because the laptop often crashes on me when I'm on it for too long.  Just like the time we were working on Reggie's niece's flyers - IT TOOK US HOURS TO MAKE ONE!!!!!  LOL - excuses, excuses, right?  Nah, we need a new comp.  Just ask Reg.  He doesn't even want to use it to surf the net.  Whenever he clicks on a link, the actual sound of the 'click' doesn't occur until seconds later.    Don't ask about how long it takes a page to load.  Anyway ... where to shop ... where to shop ... Reg??  LOL!  Actually, as soon as I got approved, Reg was quick as a blink on the job - he's a computer technician, you see.  Ahhh, how convenient, huh?

Yup - between rent and the car payments, we needed this.  I expected to have a difficult time getting approved, but that wasn't a problem.  Mommy will be glad to know that I have good credit!!  The funds will be available by next week.  Happy me, happy me!!    I'm actually excited about buying a new laundry machine.  Oooh ... I'd better make sure I don't use the money for something else ... like ...     !!!

So there's my good news for today.  I'm so tired - I haven't had a chance to relax the past couple days.  Geez!  Yesterday, I got off school only to get whisked away into an emergency meeting right before I was supposed to go in to work at PDN!  THEN after getting off work, we had about an hour to eat dinner before meeting up with Christine and Kai, our friends who are visiting for the weekend.  I regretted ordering that margarita - I was struggling; my lids felt weighted.  SORRY CHRIS!!  I know I was exhibiting some symptoms of being inebriated, although I wasn't - I was THAT tired!!   Same thing today - whisked off to another meeting after school, then off I went to collect my check at PDN.  Then I had get my employment verification (for the loan, of course) downtown and my teaching certificate.  We have to renew our certification every three years if we want to continue teaching which means going back to school and collecting a minimum of six credits - which by the way, ultimately led to my loan.  I'm SOOOO glad it's Friday.  LOL!!!

Okee - that's all for now.  Talk with you laters.  We're going to eat at the new Jamaican Grill location in Tumon.    We're taking Chris and Kai and meeting up with the rest of the girls.  I'd like to just relax for at least an our.  LATER!
